Kedarnath & Badrinath Journey Details

The intent of this blog is to provide information regarding Kedarnath & Badrinath yatra.
Starting Point :
If you are coming by Flight, Dehradun is the nearest Airport available, from there you need to reach Rishikesh.
If you are coming by Train, Haridwar is the nearest station and from there you need to reach Rishikesh.
Jounrney From Rishikesh :
There are multiple options available to reach Kedarnath/Badrinath.

If you are coming by Train, Haridwar is the nearest station and from there you need to reach Rishikesh.
Jounrney From Rishikesh :
There are multiple options available to reach Kedarnath/Badrinath.
- By Public Buses
- By Car/Bike (you can hire any of them)
Do not choose the option of driving car unless you are very well experienced, because the entire journey will be of Ghat roads.
Kedarnath :
Distance from Rishikesh to Kedarnath is approximately 275 kms. Along the way you will come across the rivers Ganga & Alakananda.
Altough 275 kms is not a big number, you might not be able to cover this whole distance in a single day. You can choose to stay near by Kedarnath which is either Guptha kashi/Sonprayag. More options will be available in Guptha kashi compared to Sonprayag. From Guptha kashi/Sonprayag you need to reach Gaurikund.
Jounrey to Gaurikund from Guptha kashi is nearly 30 kms, where as from Sonprayag it will be 5 kms.
From Gaurikund, you need to go by walk which will be 16 kms. Horses will be available for which they will charge Rs.2000 /- approximately.
Altough 275 kms is not a big number, you might not be able to cover this whole distance in a single day. You can choose to stay near by Kedarnath which is either Guptha kashi/Sonprayag. More options will be available in Guptha kashi compared to Sonprayag. From Guptha kashi/Sonprayag you need to reach Gaurikund.
Jounrey to Gaurikund from Guptha kashi is nearly 30 kms, where as from Sonprayag it will be 5 kms.
From Gaurikund, you need to go by walk which will be 16 kms. Horses will be available for which they will charge Rs.2000 /- approximately.
You can also choose the option of chopper which will be available from Sonprayag & Rudraprayag. For chopper fare would be Rs.3500/-.
Although there is an option of going by Chopper, Trecking is the best option to enjoy the nature. It would take 6-8 hrs of time approximately (Depending upon the speed with which you walk). Along the way, you will find small shops for snacks/drinks.

Badrinath :
Distance from Rishikesh to Badrnath is nearly 300 kms. From Kedarnath it would be nearly 220 kms.
If you are heading to Badrinath from Kedarnath, the best route is via Rudraprayag (altough you had the option to reach Badrinath from Kund, I would suggest to go via Rudraprayag).
